Penis, scrotum and anus irritation and rash

by Boris27, Aug 13, 2009 03:17AM
Over the last month or so I have experienced and ongoing irritation including my penis, scrotum and anus. The irritation is not itchy but is mildly painful. Across the affected area I have also noticed a blotchy rash only just noticable. I have seen two doctors on the matter. One was no help at all. The second prescribed 1% hydrocortisone cream and told me it was just a mild irritation to the skin and if I used the cream for a couple of weeks it should clear up. I have used the cream for two weeks to no avail. I am really starting to get stressed out as the irritation is becoming unbearable

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but this swelling can be due to friction rub or chaffing. Chafing is a continuous rubbing of the skin that causes redness or soreness.

Chafing occurs when the skin becomes irritated by the friction caused by rubbing – either against other skin or against a foreign material. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments.Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.Intertrigo and erythema have to be ruled out.

I hope that helps.Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
