Penis rash

I was diagnosed with a fungal infection on my penis about a month ago and the doctor prescribed me clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropriate cream.  This did take away the fungal infection.  I used this medication for two weeks before i could get into see a dermatoligist By the time the dermatoligist looked all the symptoms were gone.  The dermatologist was very upset that the doc at the walk in clinic prescribed the clotrimazole and betamethasone creme due to stretching and thinning of the skin.  Now I am scared as hell...  Because she said stretching cannot be fixed..  I have noticed some changes down there and the skin seems quite a bit looser.   Was this a total screw up by my walk in clinic doc.  What are the side effects of skin stretching on the penis.  Please help me out

Besides being looser, are you experiencing any other symptoms? Does it now get more easily irritated?

Hi,
All fungal infections need to be treated with steroid medications. The first line of treatment would be with anti-fungal medications, to which most infections will respond.

However, only prolonged use of topical corticosteroids is thought to increase the risk of possible side effects, the most common of which is the skin becoming thin and fragile.
Since your usage has been only for a couple of weeks there should not be a problem.

Stretched skin is more prone to injury. Once this happens there is usually nothing one can do about it.

In your case, this would not be a problem. Just be aware in the future about the side effects of medications you have been asked to use and especially Corticosteroids. Even asked to use them they should be used only for a short span of time and judiciously.
