Perioral Dermatitis

Perioral Dermatitis

I woke up this am with both eyelids ( lower) swollen, kind of itchy, irritated...there is a raised area like  a mosquito bite ( which it isn't)..on my left upper lid, and then on both lower lids there are small clusters of bumps...nothing is red, and it's not easy to see.You really can't see it unless you get close up.
They were more swollen earlier in the day, got a little better, but now they are back to feeling irritated etc...

There is also an area around one side of my mouth,as well..same thing...non-colored bumps...these are itchy, more thatn the eyelids, and much more irritated...

I had the one on my mouth about 2 years ago, due to over use of a topical steroid.

I haven't been using anything on my fave except Eucerin moisturizer...but for the past month I have used a nasal steroid spray...( nasonex)

Does it sound like perioral dermamtitis? Does that occur on the eyelid as I described?

What is the treatment for that?

I'm in a wedding in 7 days...will is clear up somewhat by then?

How can I prevent this from happening again?

It sounds more like eczema than perioral dermatitis.  This may respond to a brief course of a non-prescription cortisone cream.  if it is eczema, it will clear it up in plenty of time for the wedding.  But to be sure whether this is right for you, you'll need to see a doctor in person.  Perioral dermatitis can be aggravated by steroids, but it usually presents as small red bumps, not as scaly swelling.

Best.
