"Permanent" red dot and marks on neck

I've had this red dot that doesn't change at all, that has been on my neck for five years and I would like it gone! I also have vague pinkish splotches on my neck that have been there for two years...what can I do to get rid of these? I have very fair skin so the marks and dot are very noticeable.

Hi there, I too, have a single, small red dot. Mine is on my cheek and it's been there, unchanged for about 5 years, and it looks like I'm getting another one under my nose. I am 41, female. I have seen a dermatologist, and I have searched and searched. No one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. One dermatologist told me to put cream that treats roceacea on it (Um, I don't have roceacea), and dismissed me by saying "Yeah, sometimes they go away on their own." :/  She seemed to think it was a broken blood vessel, but was not confident in her diagnosis, and when I searched online, I didn't find a single picture of a "facial broken blood vessel" that looked like my red dot.
It's apparent to me, after seeing a few dermatologists and searching for similar cases online, that very few, if any have the answer. They seem to throw treatments at me without really understanding or diagnosing the issue. It's extremely frustrating. I am tempted to go to a laser center and see if I could laser it off, like a freckle.
I am sorry to report that I'm just as frustrated as you are, and have not yet been able to find a solution after 2 years.

I'm very proavtive about my healthcare, but this particular issue continues to be a thorn in my side with out any real solution. But at least I know others are dealing with the red-dot - and we're not alone in our frustration.

Thanks, but I thought people came to this site when they couldn't get to the dermatologist office for one reason or another.

I don't have mottled pigmentation!

I have a red dot.

And some red splotches.

Anyway, have a good day.

Hi,

Sorry I replied to an earlier post first. From your symptoms one possibility that needs to be ruled out is poilioderma of Civatte. It is erythema associated with a mottled pigmentation seen on the sides of the neck. Antinuclear and Anti-Ro (SS-A) antibody levels may be ordered to exclude connective tissue disease. My sincere advice is to get it examined from a dermatologist and get this possibility ruled out.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,

Discharge? From my neck? I'm wondering if you perhaps misread my post? I have a red dot on the skin of my neck, and some pink splotches also on my neck. They have been there for a few years and I'm wondering how I can help them go away.

Hello,
T commonest cause of discoloration at this site is yeast or candidia infection. Other possibilities are vitiligo and lichen sclerosus. If t is not causing any itching or discharge then there is nothing much to be worried about.
