Persistent Athlete's Foot

First of all I am assuming my affliction is athlete's foot.  So here's the situation.  For a while now (several years) I am prone to getting these bright red, burning and itchy annoyance on the tops of my toes, right behind the base of the toenail.  It doesn't usually extend beyond the knuckle of the toe though....just in that area between the top knuckle and the base of the toenail.  Not ever toe is affected either.  Maybe just 1 or 2.

So I will treat them with Lamisil and then be fine.  I've been fine for months in fact.  But I started playing basketball again.  My feet get really sweaty in general by the way.  Anyway after just ONE DAY of playing indoor basketball for a couple of hours, the 2 of my toes are bright red with what I believe is Athlete's foot.  The shoes were brand new too!

So how can I possibly be getting it that quickly???  I'm amazed and perplexed.  My feet are so sensitive it seems...just play ball for 2 hours and I get athlete's foot.  That can't be normal.

Besides antifungals and powder of course make sure you change socks when they get sweaty air out snekers, and wash your socks in hot water.  Bleach them if possible, and put them in the dryer for a long time.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
These symptoms can be due to tinea pedis which is a fungal infection of the foot. First of all, you need to get the diagnosis confirmed from your doctor and get a KOH examination of the skin scrapings done to find out whether it is fungal infection.

If it is fungal infection then topical and oral antifungals may be needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing

Moisture breeds fungi.Try an antifungal powder like Clotrimzole especially when there is a reason for chaffing or sweat.
Do consult your doc.
