I am a 41 old year male. I have a problem with my eyes. I have moderate to severe burning every day throughout the day. I am sensitive to
brightBright beginnings lights and wind.
I strongly believe that the problem started after using Acutane for my acne treatment, but that was over 10 years now. I never had a problem with my eyes until I started using Acutane and complained to my Dermatologist that I had severe burning. He said that was
normalNormal saline flush and just to use eye drops.
I think I have tried every eye drop on the market, including
RestasisRestasis. The over the counter drops seem to give me some temporary relief that lasts anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. The
RestasisRestasis I have stopped using because it did irritate my eyes for a while after use. I do have
blurredVision problems vision at times, but only when the burning is severe. I have noticed that the
temperatureTemperature measurement around my eyes seems to be high during the severe irritation. The one thing I have noticed that helps when the burning is severe is just plain old ice on my eyes.
About 15-20 minutes of cooling my eyes usually helps me quite a bit. The problem here is that tends to dry my skin around my eyes and can lead to more irritation.
I am really at a loss as to what to try next. Do you think since the ice helps that I have some sort of inflammation of the eyes that hinders my eye’s ability to produce proper tear secretion. Do you think an oral anti-inflammatory drug can help?
Like you, I am desperate for any new ideas. Feeling like I look hung over or on drugs is really starting to affect my social skills at work.
This is what I have tried so far. Maybe they will work better for you than they did for me. I do know that you should avoid Visine-like products at all costs.
