Pilonidal Cyst

So I have been having some redness and one raised bump along the top of my buttocks, between the cheeks. I initially thought it was just irritation, but now it has been around for several months. Sometimes no pain is felt, and other times it gets itchy and then bleeds when scratched, or is just painful. I showed it to my doctor who said it looked like "chaffing" but I'm not sure she really noticed the small raised bump. I'm not sure if this may be a pilonidal cyst, as most accounts I have read have described leaking fluid, which I have not experienced. Also, the bump is quite small, about as big as a small zit. Does anyone think this sounds like a pilondial cyst or just a natural bump?

I have a cyst on my tailbone. This is my secons one this year. I am so afraid to get it cut and drainded again because it hurts so bad, my brother went to the hospital a month ago for the same problem. They gave him Metronidazole and Ciprofloxacn. He said after 3 days it popped on its own and now its healed. My question is, is this safe? He had not packed it like I had to, and they said there was no pills I could take for it, so why did he get some. Would it be safe if I asked for thoes pills? If I got them is it safe to take them? And if it pops on its own how do I take care of it. Please let me know asap.

Hello,
It sounds like a pilonidal cyst. In this a cyst is present right over the coccyx area. In this the skin becomes reddened or even sometimes looks like a small bruise. When it is infected, it causes pain. Antibiotics or surgical drainage may be required.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
