Pimples along the hip and pubic region

Pimples along the hip and pubic region

Dear Medhelp,

I am 21 yrs old and about 2 weeks ago, I developed reddish pimples along both sides of my upper inner thigh, alongside (but not in) my pubic hair.  On each side these pimples were slightly separated from each other.  Prior to developing I felt no symptoms of any sickness, and throughout the duration, I did not feel sick.  The only discomfort I felt was when pressure was applied to the pimples.  Another characteristic of the pimples is that each one had a hair growing out of it or it was very close to a hair follicle.  These pimples only lasted about a week.  Near its last days, they reacted like a normal acne pimple; the pimplehead turned white (if popped, it did not really hurt, but a white/yellowish fluid came out), it would eventually turn into a blackhead (getting smaller), and then disappear (however, it has left some minor discoloration of the skin.  Only around its last days did it itch.  The last time I had sex prior to this I wore a condom.  Also, prior to this development, I used a body spray for my pubic hair and alongside my pubic hair region.  Was this an occurrance of herpes?  Folliculitis?  Irritation from the body spray?  Please help! (Internet sites are freaking me out!)  Thanx!

Not herpes!  Probably folliculitis--your description of a hair growing out of each one is apt.  Maybe the spray brought it on, hard to say.  The skin color change will go away.  Unless it recurs, in which case you should show it to a doctor, it doesn't sound evrey significant.

Best.
