Pitysiaris Rosea or Pitysporum folliculitis

by james2006, Nov 25, 2006 12:00AM
I've never had a clear cape area mostly from playing sports through the years, and think I may have had this in the past after sleeping in a hotel with sheets that made me break out all over my chest and back, but I have tiny pink ingrown hairs and other lesions sporadically throughout my back and chest with no pattern.  I'm 35 years old and live in a warm climate (80 plus degrees) even though it is November.

This condition developed two weeks ago, and it seems like there are more oval shaped brownish-red marks which can very much look like moles also popping up also.  There are just as many of those as the little pink ones throught he torso.  There are some bigger pink ones that look like they are about to heal.  They look like they can be popped and some pus could come out if I wanted it too where the hair goes in, but I'm not picking at them.  Granted I'm looking in the mirror non-stop.

Also a doctor said I had contact dermatitis on my penis 3 weeks ago and its getting better.  I was scared earlier because my penis was peeling after excessive friction and turning red, then geting better, then the process was repeating.

Another variable is that I had a three-week period where I was having baby oil rubbed all over my body on about 8 occasions.  I really think this may have something to do with the folliculitis as the stuff made me itch all over for days.  I quit all of that a good 3 weeks before the follicultis thing began.

Now the bad part.  I had unprotected vaginal sex 15 weeks ago with someone whose status is unknown but had me worried.  At the 11 week mark I had a HIV test that came back negative.  Knowing that its not conclusive at that point, how much assurance should I draw from that?  Should I order a more precise expensive-type test to completely rule it out.

I should point out that I have not had no STD symptoms to speak of.  No lesions on peins, no bumps, no burning pee.  I have yet to have any STD testing but feel I probably should.

I am reading the internet like a maniac these days, and am scared as heck that this Rosea or Folliculitis may be due to "immunosupression".  I can only think that means HIV.

I had a fever that lasted 3-4 days but it went away.  5 Days later the folliculitis thing started, and its been with me just shy of 2 weeks.  I try not to give too much credit to that because I was constantly around people that also had the flu very badly 2 days before I got it.  The fever did include chills and night sweats.

My stress level is off the charts.  I run a business and am in financial difficulty etc etc.  The stress, I think is also causing me constant problems with a grumbling and growling stomach all night. I have also quit all my lifelong vices and that makes life even tougher to cope with.

The guilt I feel is big.  I'm in counseling and the counselor thinks I need meds for OCD.  People notice a serious change in me for the worse.  Could it be HIV.  Or stress or the oil, or just a
recurrance like before

I think you have folliculitis, or blocked pores.  None of this sounds like HIV or any STD.  Folliculitis is extremely common and does not by any means imply immune suppression.  I'm glad you're seeing a counselor, because you clearly need help with anxiety, if not OCD.  Since you apparently saw a doctor a few weeks ago for your penis rash, why not see him or her again, to confirm my impression?  It sounds as though you have enough on your plate without worrying about a minor and unimportant skin rash.

Take care.

My name is Kaela. My boyfriend of 3 years has an 8 year old girl with severe excema. I never knew what it was until I saw her poor skin. It would crack and bleed all the time when we used to cover her in eucerin. I used to wait until she'd been sleeping a bit and then lather more on her. Nothing ever changed. Then I was introduced to a company that only produces botanically based products. My boyfriend and his ex-wife were more than willing to try it out so we began with these few products. I am soo thoroughly impressed with her results that I buy stuff for myself and all of my family. Her cracking and bleeding went away completely after a month and you could see results in just a couple of days. She no longer was scratching in her sleep and wearing band-aides to school. If you want more information let me know I think everyone should use this on their children and themselves. They have products that are all botanically based from Baby care- Vitamins-Remidies-Acne- to Anti-aging. If you have any questions e-mail me I found tons of information. ***@**** or ***@****
