Please help!

by al259, Aug 07, 2009 04:14AM
Hi im 14 and i went to the beach today to surf. I was way out in the water where the waves dont quite break and there were so many pieces of seaweed and and stuff on the bottom floor that i would step on. And sometimes it would hurt when i walked but there were no cuts on my feet. Before we left, I cleaned my feet in the local outdoor mini shower to wash the sand off and there is a little puddle below the nozzle on the ground and i step my feet in there and it looked sandy and a little dirty perhaps because people were using it, and i started to wash them with the water to get the sand off. and then earlier tonight i found 1 or 2 big blackish spots on the bottom of my feet and a black spot on each toe on each foot. And the spot covers a lot of the bottom of the toes. Nothing on the top of the feet though just on the bottom. and it is kind of soar when i scrunch my toes up right where the toe and the foot meet. And the best way to describe its looks for the color is dirty. It literally looks like dirty feet. and its not pitch black but just dirty and i really mistakened it for dirt untill i wiped my feet with a wet rag and then nothing came off nor was there a dirt mark on the rag. So i dont know if this is just dirt that is stuck to my skin that i cant get off or some kind of infection. so i have no clue if its from the water when i stepped on something like a sea creature or a jelly fish or something or from the puddle i stepped in at the showers. Please reply ASAP! I'm scared something is terribly wrong.

To: al259,
Hello,
From the symptoms that you have mentioned,it can be contact dermatitis, bite of some aquatic animal or fungal infection. Wash your feet with a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Pat it dry. Then apply a good hypoallergenic moisturizer over the area and see if this improves. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort.
If the symptoms persist then pls get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Fungal infections have to be ruled out.

I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
