Possible Balanitis

Possible Balanitis

Hello, I am a 20 year old uncircumcised male. A few months ago, my penis glans (glands) started to get red in some areas. This came in episodes that would cause flakiness/peeling every few days, but it was very minor. It consistently got worse over than next two months, so I went to see my doctor. He told me it was most likely fungal and recommended anti-fungal cream. I tried both Lotrimin cream and powder for two weeks. What I noticed is that it did not come in go in episodes anymore. Also, it stopped peeling. It is just red on the foreskin and rim around the glans (glands). My doctor then told me to try hydrocortisone cream because he believed that the fungal issue was gone. Now, it is just inflamed and more sensitive than usual.
After research,I've found that my symptoms match Balanitis which was initially was cause by fungal problems (which are now resolved). The hydrocortisone cream has not worked thus far, and I was wondering if anyone here knows a good treatment for Balanitis? Also, does anyone know anything this could possible be besides Balanitis?

Hello,

It looks like dermatitis skin after balanitis. First of all use mild soap like Dove and wear cotton clothes. Corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
