Possible infection on toe

by t_a_s, Aug 15, 2009 06:44AM
I developed a wart on my pinky toes on both sides, near where the toe and the foot meet, and bought an over-the-counter liquid nitrogen freezing kit about three weeks ago.  After two weeks, it seemed as though nothing really had happened, and I read online that putting a small square of duct tape over the wart would help to make it go away - this sweemed to work on a wart I had on my hand, so I put a small piece of duct tape over each wart and left them on for most of the day.

On the left side, the wart seems to have gotten smaller, but hasn't disappeared.  There's no pain or anything.

On the right side, however, where the wart was bigger, I'm now hurting quite a bit: the area around it is inflamed, and either the wart itself or the skin over it has turned a dark red, almost black at one part.  When pushed on, reddish pus leaks out -lots of it - pretty disgusting, and quite agonizing... it's been like this for a day now.

Is this *supposed* to happen after using the liquid nitrogen?  Should it get better on its own in another few days?  How should I take care of it now so that it doesn't get worse?  Or should I rush myself to the hospital?
