Preventing Scar on Upper Lip

Preventing Scar on Upper Lip

Hello,

Thank you in advance for your time.

I was mountain biking, took a wicked spill and cut my upper lip.  3.5 hours later, I had it stitched up.  It has been 6 days since my spill and I just had the 3 stitches removed.  It is starting to scab lightly and itch.  The cut starts right at the border of my lip and is the widest at this point.  The cut goes in a diagonal upwards from there.  The stitching was done well and it closed up pretty good.

Since it is on my upper lip, it is tricky.  It recieves a lot of natural 'massage', which I am trying to limit by not watching comedies (ha).  Movement can amplify scarring because of the extended healing time involved, but I have read it is also good to massage a scar for better collagen alignment/reduction.  I have read that lips do not scar as bad as other areas, because of all the blood flow...but this is just above my lip.

- I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue of a wound (scar formation) being subjected to movement on a regular basis.  Any out of the ordinary advice for preventing a scar on my upper lip would be appreciated.

I am also requesting some professional advice on a plan of attack.

Here is what I have in my topical arsenal:
-Neosporin
-VitE
-Helichrysum oil blend
Onion Extract plus healing botanicals, in a cream blend (Derm E Scar Gel)
Silicon Liquid Gel
Silicon Pads

My Thoughts/Questions:

If I use silicone liquid gel, can I use other products over it, or is it one or the other?

Can I wear a bandage over the Silicone Liquid Gel? (bandage and oxygen levels -?)

Is it OK to use   Neosporin,   VitE,   Derm E Scar Gel,   Helichrysum Oil Blend   and   SPF50  all together in different layers?  What would you recommend?  Some during day, others at night?

I plan on wearing the silicone pad at night...When can I start using this pad?

I am taking Lysine, VitE, VitC and Zinc orally and eat healthy with plenty of water.

I know it takes time and my body will do its best,  but I want to try and prevent a scar in the best way possible from the start.

Thank you so much for your time,

AntiScar Guy
