Prickly Arm Itch

The Cure, 30 years of experience with this and now it’s gone. The cure is so simple you may not believe it. I started getting this prickly arm itch in the early 1980s and have dealt with it ever since. Like most others, I tried all of the topical itch remedies for itching which proved mostly ineffective. At one point I even applied a hot needle to the little pinpoint itches to burn them out. I had a friend at the time who was a cosmetics chemist for Max Factor. She developed a cream for me that was very effective for temporary relief, I have no idea what was in it. After it ran out and I was no longer in touch with her, I found two remedies that were very effective, but still only provided temporary relief, not a cure.

The first one was sunburn gel made from aloe and lidocaine (probably what the chemist used). It proved more effective than any itch remedies found at the drug store. But it dries out in a while and loses its effectiveness, needing another application. But what if you want to get a good nights sleep without soiling the sheets with lotions and gels? You may have heard that duct tape is good for a lot of application, here’s another one. That’s right, duct tape. Apply duct tape to the itch and it’s gone immediately. And it will stay gone until the tape is removed, letting you get a full night’s sleep. These treatments are both good for temporary relief, but I did say “the cure.”

The Real Cure: The real cure is in your bath soap. I discovered in the late 1980s that by using Caress Bath Soap, the itch never comes back. After a few years of using Caress I had forgotten about the itch and changed my bath soap, the itch returned, I went back to Caress. 10 years later I experience the same thing again, thinking the itch was forever gone I changed soaps. That is when I discovered the temporary relief remedies mentioned above. I switched back to Caress. That was about 5 years ago and the itch has never returned. So simple it’s hard to believe but I can tell you that it works for me. Change your bath soap to Caress and the itching will stop permanently.

I use a soldering iron to burn each itch spot on my arms when it becomes identifiable.
Hold the iron on the spot until the itch stops. This is not painful if you hit only the itchy area.

I've always been under the impression (and I'm not sure why)  that Caress is just Dove soap with added baby oil.   Maybe just having used both. I've used nothing but Dove for years since a doctor recommended it to me.  Maybe you can find that?

clove oil..this is brachiol puritis no cure it is a neuropathy
Plz can you tell me more about this
I've suffered with carpet beetle dermastitis for over 5 years, been under the care of specialists  after going through EVERY department of the "famous" Kirklin clinic. Not only did NO DOCTOR EVER correctly diagnose me, NONE EVER HELPED!!! The problem is at my parents house, I care for them. But because they are not affected by them, they do not believe it.  Prickly Arm Itch saved my life-literally. The severe allergic reactions combined with suffering alone, and not one doctor ever even coming close to a diagnosis much less an effective treatment, drove me to severe depression and mental decline. I had been on high dose steroids for years, which affected my health in many, many terrible ways from side effects-some irreversible.  So to hear you tell this person who CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER (I would go as far as saying Prickly Arm Itch saved my life), that they shouldn't be talking about things that they do not know about, to hear you say this frustrates me more than you can know. I, myself am a biologist and used the methods of scientific reasearch required to identify the problem myself. And I did find the problem. That was relatively simple, but remedies (and a CURE!!!) have alluded me for years. There is so little data/information on this medical oddity. Had it not been for my insistence to never give up and keep researching, I would have never come across this site/post and found these remedies/Cure. I have tested them, with strict procedure and outside unbiased reviews. THIS PERSON IS CORRECT!!! I am eternally grateful to "Prickly Arm Itch"!!
So Playh13 your Prickly Arm Itch is caused by this Carpet Beetle Dermatitis??

Caress works the opposite for me. Inflames my skin bc it coats it. I use Ivory soap, Castille, good basic European soap or Nivea body wash. Favorite is LUMENE Body Wash but can no longer get it here in the states.

You can get tinea capitis from cats that have ringworm. It is the same fungus. I got it from a sick cat that used to sleep on my head every night. There is no topical treatment for tinea capitis as it lives inside the shaft of your hairs and is protected by those shafts. If tinea capitis is shafting you, try 250mg tablets of terbinafine hydrochloride (Lamisil) for oral use. Tinea capitis makes your hair brittle and break. Dermatologists believe it is rare in adults. It is more common in adults than they believe.
I can assure you, after the years and time I put into this, IT IS NOT YOUR CAT, nor is it anything to do with your cat other than it is too hypersensitive to the hairs of the larvae stage of the carpet beetle.

I live in europe, the island of Mallorca to be exact and have not found Caress soap here. Is there any information you could give me from the packaging to help me find something similar? I would really appreciate it as I am another 60-year-old woman being driven crazy every night! I find that wrapping cotton tightly round the arm allows me to sleep for a while but will certainly try duct tape while I hunt foir Caress or the equivalent! I long for a proper night's sleep after months without one. I had better try drinking more wáter too I guess as I have read on this thread that dehydration may be a contributing factor... Cheers!

that doesnt work
Why are you using soap at all?  Why is anyone, except mechanics, coal miners and waste disposal technicians?  Feet and armpits, sure, but the rest of your body would probably appreciate having its natural oils left alone.  Water only, baby!  I'm 70, been doing it since 20, my skin's fine, and no BO
EXACTLY!!!! I don’t use laundry soaps either. My husbands clothing’s and body is a whole nother thing ! Lol. Unless u r actively getting dirty tobwear u can see it we don’t need soap.  My skin is better.  My clothing lasts longer in better shape.
