Protopic

Protopic

I'm recovering from a really bad case of steroid induced rosacea.  I'm on Protopic, but it seems to be causing acne.  Is there any way to prevent this.  It's helping and I don't want to stop, but I can't stand the acne that's occuring!  Once I finish treatment with Protopic, will my face flare up like it did when all this started?

Thanks,
L.C.

Hello,
Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effects of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years.
Avoiding rosacea triggers, such as caffeine, spicy foods, and alcohol, also may help clear the skin. Also use of antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens and tacrolimus(protropic, which you are already using). Also protect your skin from sun by avoiding going out in sun in peak hours or applying a non perfumed sun screen before going out in sun. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
