Puffy rim of penis

Ok, here is the deal. I had a couple drunk sexual encounters about a month ago. A week after the encounters, when I was erect, I noticed about a 3/4 inch section of dry looking skin with a couple faint bumps. This was gone in a few days. Then, 3 weeks later, I noticed a small section the the right side of the rim area of the head of my penis looking puffy. After a couple days, the whole top portion of the rim of my penis has this puffy look. It is not extreme, and does not hurt or anything. It is definatly noticable though, and a bit redish.. the head also seems to be more wrinkly than normal! It has been this way for a week now. Does this sound serious? Or can I start to sleep at night again?

My husband had this and didn't get tested.. I made sure to get tested myself for STD's 2 different times about 2mo. after seeing it and again 6mo after that. all neg. and I never had any wierd symptoms.

His symptoms were dryness/flakyness on the head and little red blotchy bumps, NOT sores. it seemed to spread a little for a while, but he continued to wash and cleaned regularly and after about a month or so it went away...he hasn't had it since (about 3yrs ago)

Hi.

Were you prescribed any medications?

Aside from the puffiness, is there any associated redness, pain, itchiness in the area?

I suggest that you ask your physician if any topical low potency corticosteroids may be able to help at the moment. This may be a dermatitic reaction. This does not sound urgent and if you're physician would not agree to any topical medications then this has to be followed. Given that the penile skin is a lot more sensitive compared to skin in other areas of the body, applying inappropriate medication in the area may only  aggravate the condition.

Use a mild cleanser to wash the skin and keep the skin clean and dry always. You may apply vitamin E cream over the area to keep the skin moisturized.

So I went to see the doc, and he gave me the usual "it should be fine, it might stay like that, it might go away". But the rim of the head is definatly puffy and when erect i can see some tiny red dots under the rim. It is completely different from how it normally was. Any suggestions?

Hi,

With a significant sexual history, I suggest that you first have this assessed objectively by your primary physician. A urinalysis and culture of urine and  urethral swabs  may be able to help rule out an underlying infectious process.

Based on what you have posted, this may be a case of balanitis. As this is relevant to what you have posted, may I ask if you have been circumcised? Balanitis is commonly due to a yeast infection.Other causes are bacterial infection and mechanical trauma which may lead to psoriatic balanitis. Balanitis is not a sexually transmitted disease ,however sexual activity may lead to the condition due to irritation of the skin of the penis.

I suggest that you have this checked. This does not sound urgent however, this is also not something that you could just dismiss. An infectious process is still a differential. In this case, avoid sexual activity until you have been properly assessed.
