Questions about sebaceous prominence

Hi Doc,

I was hoping you could clear up some confusion for me.  Is it normal for a guy in his late 20's to suddenly develop sebaceous prominence on his penis even if he has never seen them before?

Recently, I was diagnosed as having a genital wart, and around that same time i've noticed many white bumps growing that were scattered all around the mid and lower part of the shaft of my penis.  These white bumps do not look the same as the wart and from looking at pictures online it seems that these are sebaceous prominence.  The bumps can't be popped either.

Is it just coincidence that I am seeing these two different types of lesions at the same time??

Thanks

Yes, I think so.  Besides being in the same vicinity, they have nothing to do with each other.  It's possible that you had them for a while but never looked too hard (why would you?) until a wart drew your attention to these spots.  In any case, show them to a doctor next time you go, but I doubt you have anything to be concerned about.

Take care.

So then it is common for sebaceous prominence to show up suddenly as you get older?

Yes.  Or else it wasn't so sudden, but you just noticed.  Can't be proved either way.  Doesn't matter.
