For a little over 10 years ago I visited quite a few dermatologist in Norway to try to identify and threat this symptom. Some of them being some of the foremost experts in Norway at the time being, none of them had a clue.
Some of the things I tried threating this are:
Laser
Freezing
Various psoriasis treatments
Various eczema treatments
Various fungus treatments
Radiation
I recon things might have changed during the years and that someone might have an answer to this now? Anyone seen anything like it, and might have an idea for a possible treatment? :-)
I wear a bandage on it on a daily basis to avoid it from getting dry and flakey, as it then starts to crack and open wounds develop. It also get a hard edge when I do not wear anything on it. It does not seem to be infectious
Treatment includes avoidance of the allergen, oral antihistaminics; topical application of corticosteroids. You may try application of calamine on the affected site. It may work by soothing the skin.
Also apply plenty of non perfumed moisturizer to keep the skin well moisturized.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
