Rash, ringworm, or something else??

Hi

About two months ago, an oval rash developed on my lower leg.  It's about 1x2 inches.  My dermatologist said it looked like a common rash and gave me some ointment. However, it has not gone away.  It is red, splotchy, and a little scaly.  It does not itch at all.  This week, I found a similar rash (but much smaller) on my upper leg.  What is this?  I will be going to my dr. again, but in the meantime I'd like to know what your guess would be.

Here's a picture looking down on the rash.

Hello.  I was recently diagnosed with Pityriasis Rosea, and i believe you may have the same thing, judging by your picture and the syptoms you have written. I am not even sure you are still experiencing this anymore, since your blog was dated in August, but you can read this website for an overview of this disease.  Don't worry it isn't contagious.

That kind of rash could be a fungus infection or a patch of eczema.  Both are common rashes, so I don't know which one your dermatologist thought it was.  But if it didn't get better, then perhaps he or she should reconsider, do a scraping for fungus, or whatever else is necessary.  Either way, it should be easy to clear up.

Take care.
