Rash around face HELP!?!?!?!?

Rash around face HELP!?!?!?!?

In the last week or so I have developed a rash thing that circles around my mouth. I'm not sure what it is and I would like anyone to post some help or maybe even some steps on how to get rid of it. I have never had a rash before so I would think it would be tempory. The rash itself doesnt hurt it just occasially stings.

Any help please?

I will try and include a picture soon

Thank you anyone that helps

Hi,

This could be perioral dermatitis or tinea (ringworm).

Perioral dermatitis, a condition related to acne vulgaris, consists of red papules that may appear microvesicular that typically affect the nasolabial folds, perioral area or perioccular area. It usually affects women , but can be seen in males too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perioral_dermatitis

It is commonly caused by the use of fluorinated topical glucocorticoid steroids to this area.

It is treated in a similar manner to acne vulgaris with tetracycline antibiotics or erythromycin but, without the use of topical steroids.

Recently, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been reported to be helpful, although large studies have not yet been performed.

Roaccutane has been used in patients with severe perioral dermatitis with some benefit. Do consult with a dermatologist regularly.

Skin medication is usually successful at treating Ringworm within 4 weeks.

Advice often given to prevent ringworm includes:

* Avoidance of sharing clothing, sports equipment, towels, or sheets.
* Washing clothes in hot water with fungicidal soap after suspected exposure to ringworm.
* Avoidance of walking barefoot, wearing of appropriate protective shoes to the beach and flip-flops/thongs in locker rooms.
* After being exposed to places where the potential of being infected is great , washing with an antibacterial and anti-fungal soap or one that contains Tea Tree Oil, which contains terpinen-4-ol.

The treatment options include - Topical antifungal agents such as terbinafine 1% cream (Lamasil) applied twice daily until symptoms resolve (usually 1-2 weeks). Terbinifine is not recommended for children < 2 years old or anyone with impaired hepatic function.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for the symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information.

Regards.

Is there any simple methods of getting rid of it? Anything at home I can use, things like that?

Thanks
