Rash at scrotum/upper thigh

So last week I got a rash where my scrotum meets my upper thigh. At first i thought it was just from chaffing, but it has lasted a week with talc powder which has never happened. It doesnt really itch but kind of hurts if i pull on my scrotum to get a better look. Im terrified its an STD, but don't really know what it would be. The rest of my scrotum is starting to seem a little redder and drier but that may be caused by the constant talc-ing. I slept with someone for the first time a week or so before the rash if that enters the equation.

Reading others posts, hydrocortisone keeps popping up. Should I try this before continuing to freak out? Any help is much appreciated

So im worried that applying the spray tinactin shouldn't be burning. Also, around the rash it looks like my skin is starting to peel a little bit and small pimple looking bumps (with a white head) are starting to show up. They seem to be the same type of pimply bumps that arrive on my neck after irritation shaving. This doesn't seem to be an STD does it? the hydrocortisone seemed to do a little better so i think im gonna try that again. Please any insight is greatly appreciated.

So applied some hydrocortisone cream this morning and that seemed to help. It softened up the skin and it appeared to be doing better this afternoon. I also have never had jock itch, so after showering I sprayed some tinactic on it. It burned initially but cooled fairly quickly. I dont know if thats normal to burn first, but ill keep posting later when i see how that helps. Thanks kindd

Hello,
Without examination it is difficult confirming a diagnosis but it sounds like erythrasma.Erythrasma is a chronic superficial infection of the intertriginous areas of the skin.It is true that groins are affected but the typical appearance is well-demarcated, brown-red macular patches. The skin has a wrinkled appearance with fine scales.

It has to be differentiated from contact dermatitis, psoriasis, sweat dermatitis and fungal infections which may mimic it.Wood lamp examination and gram staining are the tests for its diagnosis.

So nothing can be confirmed without examination.

The standard therapy of erythrasma is antibiotics and antifungals because it is caused by a bacteria C minutissimum.Erythromycin is the drug of choice.

Mild steroids are helpful in reducing the inflammation associated with it. But use it only after a dermatologist’s prescription.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
