Rash of pimples around pubic area...stranded in Korea

by icebluesilence, Feb 20, 2007 12:00AM
I’ve never been diagnosed with eczema, or been to a derm. though I’ve had raised itchy bumps on my upper legs/arms since I can remember. I’m a 25 y/o male, 6’1”, not overweight. No family history of eczema, but I have very sensitive skin. I'm from a state with lots of humidity, and Korea has about zero.
I’ve been in South Korea for 10 months, and I’ve sought out the opinion of a doctor under the coverage of my local insurance. I got three words: 'venereal disease no', after I said I’d neither discharge or painful urination.
It's likely that I've also had folliculitis for several years (five-ish), and dismissed it as a rash of acne around my buttocks/upper thighs. Undiagnosed also.
I visited Korean doc after I itched open a small lesion. It spread to two inches, on the inside of right thigh. It wept clear, yellowish fluid. After applying a prescribed Korean ointment, it nearly vanished after existing about 3 weeks. Now it appears to be just a red bump, three-eighths of an inch.
One of these appeared on the right side of my penis, but much smaller in size. With the ointment it lasted only 10 days.
What followed was a small rash of red bumps around my pubic area. This exploded yesterday, after a long night of sexual intercourse: a number of red bumps and pimples like some of the folliculitis photographs. They stretch from the top of one thigh, across pubic area to the other, and itch. I have only friction irritation on my genitals.
Questions: are the lesions, bumps, and rash related? Are these all symptoms of eczema? Research doesn't list pimples for eczema.

Correct.  Pimples are a sign of folliculitis, not eczema.  This can occur spontaneously, or it can be aggravated by friction such as that from prolonged sexual intercourse.  That's really all I can say from this distance.  For more information, you'll need to rely on local physicians, though I recognize that language is a significant barrier.  Still, the diagnosis of no venereal disease seems reasonable.

Best.
