Rash on Fanny

I have a chronic rash (I guess) on my posterior.  It doesn't itch, but is red and sort of looks like small pimples.  My skin, other than this, is really quite good and not prone to breakouts.  Also, I don't recall having this problem until I was well into my 20's or maybe even 30's.  Although it doesn't really seem like pimples, it does get worse and more raised shortly before my menstrual period.  Now that I don't work outside the home, so no longer wear pantyhose, I thought it might improve, but regardless of what I wear it doesn't.  This is really ugly.  What can I do to improve it?  What is it caused from?  Thanks.

Beverly:

Folliculitis (blocked follicles) is common oin the buttock.  Staph germs seem to be at fault.  Try this: wash daily with Hibiclens (OTC) and every night apply bacitracin ointment on the pimples and also in your nostrils every night.  The germs often live in the nose, even without symptoms.  If no imporvment after a month, show a dermatologist.

I completely understand what you are talking about and how this rash feels.  I've been struggling with this for a while and have not yet seen a dermatologist.  I have tried several different ointments and they either bleach anything and everything that you wear or they irritate the rash even more.  Let me know if anything you try works!

Alyssa-  This works!  It is hugely improved and maybe gone...and the Bacitracin although slightly sticky, doesn't seem to stain clothing!  I'm cured!  Try it.
