Rash on Male Genitals after Intercourse

by JayRay729, Dec 28, 2008 10:09PM
I just began having sex with my girlfriend. We are not using condoms. Prior to this< she had not had sex in 5 months and I had not in 2 months.  The morning following the first time we had sex, I had a rash at the base of my penis very similar to razor burn. I thought it may had been that since I had shaved that morning.  This went away after a few days. We had sex twice a few days later and it appeared again, except a little worse this time, she also complained of feeling raw and irritated afterward. The next day we had sex again and the rash was worse afterward and continued up the shaft farther than I shave, almost to the tip of the penis. She stated she is very raw and irritated and feels even a little swollen today.  I have been applying 1% Hydrocortisone creme and it helps a little but not significantly. This time it is 2 days out and I still have a rash and she is still irritated. Is this something I need to worry about? typically I don't get razor burn and have never had this happen before, so I am a little concerned.

Sounds like friction burn to me, from more sex than usual.  I suggest some time off, and lubrication once you resume.  If the irritation persists, you'll want to see a doctor in person, if only to get ideas about how to clear up the mutual discomfort.  Perhaps a prescription-strength hydrocortisone might be in order.

Take care.
