I am really worried about a rash that is not going away and no one has been able to diagnose a cause.
I was sick for 3 weeks with UTI type symptoms before it developed on my genital, and has now been there for well over a month. I tried all kinds of different creams - antifungal, steroid, abx cream, etc. Nothing seems to help.

I have been tested for major STI and they were all negative but my 12 week post exposure mark is not until the end of this month.   I also had urine culture (-) but I have not had any specific skin testing done yet.
Abx helped with my urinary tract symptoms.  I was on them for weeks and finished as of last week, yet still I have the red rash, low grade fever, chills and I am really stressed out and scared.

Rash is non itchy, dry, and velvety red with a sort of cracked skin texture.
I was in a dermatologist office but they want me to try a different cream and come back in 30 days!
I have options to see other providers but I need to have a better idea of what I should ask for.

Is it possible to skin test a rash and is that a test any doctor can order, or must it come from a dermatologist?   Also can the assistant order or is it something I need to see the dermatologist personally about?    Also should I ask for any other specific tests at this point besides the ones I will repeat, or do you have any other suggestions?

I appreciate your time and any advice/info. or messages.  Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
This dry and red rash can be due to eczema or psoriasis. Psoriasis is a non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. To confirm the diagnosis, you need to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and a biopsy skin done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for the advice Doc.   Nothing I tried thus far has helped much at all  but I saw another poster with a similar complaint, similarly more visible with erection:  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Dermatology/Red-Patches-on-Head/show/1812647

a dermatologist is willing to do a skin biopsy but do you think they can grow a tissue culture from a skin biopsy?  It is a sensitive area so I am not eager to get this done, instead I would rather take or repeat some tests for infections.
