Rashes on Penis, burn like symptoms

I had posted to one of the other forums here, and took the advice of the board members and went to see a doctor.  I went to see an Infectious disease doctor but he referred me to a Skin Treatment doctor.  Whilst there, I was examined on my penis and scrotum. The doctor said it was not Herpes Simplex 2 (Which I originally thought it was) but rather an irritation to something. I said in the last 2 weeks I had had sex once with an ex-gf, with a condom (about 4 days prior to symptoms) and used a hotel skin cream to masturbate while on a business trip. The doctor prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide.

There is a lot of rash area on my penis, especially near the top of my penis (joining of the base to the head) and is very red with a burnt look to it (clear fluid covering burn area).  I have taken some pictures to show but I don't think i'm allowed to post there.  The doctor has given me said cream and asked me to come by in 6 days for a check up.

Should they not have done a scrap test to see if it was Herpes although there was not a single blister.
Will this re-occur?
Is this a problem regarding cleanliness? I shower atleast twice a day, but I don't use any special creams/lotions on my body.

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

So it's been 5 days since the doc gave me the Triamcinolone and all symptons on my penis are gone. I meanly completely. I've never seen anything heal so quick. First 2 days of the cream were a bit strange due to the clumping of the cream and the skin felt like it was falling off (for lack of a better word) but i'm amazed how the stuff worked. I hope whatever I have never comes back again.

Let's say I had some dermatitis, will it come back ?

Is this medicine something that can harm me in any way if I keep it on stand by in case? I'm worried about developing dependencies or side effects.

Thank you again for your taking the time to help a stranger.

Hello,
Triamcinolone is a high potency steroid which is used in skin conditions like eczema, contact dermatitis or dermatitis. It is good that the steroid cream has helped you.

Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Thank you very much for the reply. As well, thank you for the time it took to write said reply.

I've been putting Triamcinolone Acetonide cream on my penis the last few days. Wow, what a difference. I've almost completely cleared up in 3 days. Is it possible? I went from a bleeding, pussing, scabing, head of a penis to now just mild flaking. I can't believe how quickly it went away.  What can it be?

I wish I could share pictures on this forum to share with others. It was really bad mate, I tell ya.  I took vitamins, put the cream on, ate healthy and although I couldn't get out and exercise I did do whatever I could do within my condo complex for sporting activities.

I'm stopping smoking for fear this contributes to my eczema but I'm not convinced it's not herpes although there was no blisters, sores to be seen.

Thank you again for your reply!

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic),excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms) .Even genital warts and herpes cannot be ruled out as it is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner. But the description of herpes does not fit into your categosy,Herpes presents as blisters which scab over.

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the rash is itchy, you  can take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin.

If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Genital warts and herpes have to be ruled out.You cannot rule out herpes without investigations.  like culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
