Re: to the itchy bump mystery...

In November I moved from Knoxville TN back to Northwest Indiana (Chicagoland area). Around late December my legs started itching really bad. I noticed I had red bumps on my legs, around 3 or 4. Well I have very sensitive skin and thought maybe it was the change in climate, moving from the rain forest to the north pole and all. lol. Well it is now Feb 29, and I still have them! Now I get 7 or 8 at a time on each leg. It is ONLY below the knees, no place else. They itch like crazy!!!!!! So of course I scratch them and then the ones that have formed scabs bleed. I have not used anything different since we moved here, as far as laundry soap or even shaving creams. It is just so strange. I am glad others know what I am talking about.

The same thing has happened to me.  I am a 36 year old male and have always had great skin and no allergies since I was 7.  Back in October, I became violently ill with some kind of flu.  I would sweat so bad at night that my sheets were soaked and had to be changed through the night.  Not to mention that my sweat was colored, like grayish color.  I recovered within the week, but then the following week I had a huge boil on my arm that turned out to be a bacteria infection; however they had to drain it and put a wick in; and redress it 3 more times.  This place on my forearm didn't itch.  My doctor put me on some antibiotics and within three weeks my arm was healed.

Two weeks later, I was sexually active.  And then only a week after that I had some bumps between my legs that were itching like mad.  At first I thought they might have been VD so I went to the doctor for a full STD test.  All tests came back negative.

The bumps starting moving to the legs and then the fingers.  It was like little festered hairs on my legs that had no pus or water in them but they were itching like mad.  I thought I might have mites in the bed so I changed the sheets several times and bleached the entire bathroom; washed all my clothes in hot water, you name it.. I did it a full steralization of the house.  I even treat every spot on my body with a iodine solution to help stop spreading.  Nothing helps.

The itching got worse over time and usually only bothered me at night.  I am not the type of person who sweats a lot and never really got any heat rashes; even though I live in Atlanta.

I changed my diet to include healthy portions of vegetables and fruits; cut back on dairy and meats.  I have always been a healthy eater and constantly watch what I eat (never fast food for me).  Still the itching continued.  At this point it has moved to my butt cheeks and between my crack.

There are many nights that I cannot sleep.  I have tried Sarna, Benadryl, anything I can get my hands on to stop the itching... nothing works.

March, I go see a dermatologist because my family doctur has no clue as to what is wrong with me; other than allergies.  But I am using / eating nothing different than I have all my life.  The dermatologist studied my body for about 5 minutes and questioned me with basically all the information I have provided above.  He determined that I had psoraisis and gave me the following:

Taclonex ($400) - for my legs
Locoid Lipocreme ($128) for my scrotum and penis
Clobex ($220) for my hands.

Here are the results:   My hands did clear up for the most part.   Nothing has helped my legs, butt, scrotum.. and now it has spread to my elbows, wrists, ankles, waist and abdomen.

Has anyone found anything that is working??  I am going broke trying to sleep at night.  I just want a day where I don't itch or I become numb to this problem I have.
