I keep getting boils, mostly on my chin, twice on the inside of my nose and once on the outside of my nose, i've never had this problem before but it's happend five or six times this year and I have no idea why or how to prevent them. I allready get sore skin on my chin when I shave, I usually get a cluster of tiny painful spots a day or two after shaving, but now occasionally one swells up and turns into a boil, it allways happens a day or two before i'm due to go out or go on a date and it's wrecking my confidence.
Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus. Hair follicles that are blocked by greasy creams, petroleum jelly, or similar products are more vulnerable to infection. Bacterial skin infections can be spread by shared cosmetics or washcloths, close human contact, or by contact with pus from a boil or carbuncle.
Apply warm compresses on the bumps and keep the area clean. Drainage of the bump is done only when it becomes soft and forms a head. Take some over the counter pain reliever and consult a doctor for examination and antibiotics prescription. If there are recurrent boils, then please get your blood sugar levels estimated.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
