Recurrent Skin Infections / Folliculitis

Hi, this is a follow up to your answer on 1/27/02.

My concern is that its been a year and half that I am still dealing with folliculitis, etc.  Its not bad, but I think that is because I pay close attention to everything.  As of right now, I have a dime size lesion, and about 6 small red bumps scattered around my swimsuit area and one bump on my wrist.  Its minor - but, when will it eventually cease?

Is there a general time frame that I can expect it to fade away - 2 years, 3 years?  Should I try taking Biotin?

Also, give how this all came about (see previous question's histroy), i would think if it does go away that I probably won't see it again?

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, thse folliculitis outbreaks generally do indeed cease.  The time frame is measured for the most part in months, rather than years, though of course there may be exceptions.

I advise you to follow your dermatologist's advice, and otherwise to pay as little attention to it as possible.

Biotin probably won't make much difference to this condition.

Best.
