Recurring "not so typical" cold sore resulting scar.

by 2tall32, Feb 01, 2009 10:05PM
I've had cold sores my entire life--in many different areas on my lips, around my mouth, and by my nose.  Within the last 8 months, I've had several (over 3) cold sores in the exact same spot on the upper right part of my lip and write above it.  It's not a typical cold sore in that it doesn't blisters, but it definitely tingles, turns red, and I guess ultimately some and ultimately my skin gets all dried up and the dead skin peals. Now I have grayish scar on my skin right above the lip.  It looks like I have a smudge on my face.  I the outer rim of the scar is darker than the inside.  I'm fearful that using a laser will irritate it again.  Do you think a fade cream will work on it, or a scar cream like Maderma might work?
