Red, Itchy, Scaly under the nose

I am 18, and I have no acne whatsoever besides an occasional pimple here or there. However, since age 13, I have had red, uneven, bumpy/scaly skin under my nose/nostrils. It itches but I can usually restrain myself from rubbing it. My doctor recently prescribed me Ketoconazole cream, but I don't think it has made much of a difference. It's still really red and if I stop using it for a few days, it gets really rough feeling and gross again. Is there anything I can do to control/get rid of this...I find it really embarrassing and always try to cover it up with makeup. Yet I also worry that makeup could be irritating it?? What should I do? Thanks in advance!
