Red Irritated Penis Tip

I have a small red rash at the very tip of my penis which started 2 days after rough sex.  It feels irritated and chafed, although I might not go so far as to use the word “burn”.  There is also a very small raised area of skin slightly to one side.  Please help me figure out what my problem is.  Here is a little history:

It started as a minor tickle 3 months ago and was accompanied by occasional urges to urinate.  Since then I have seen 2 urologists and an STD clinic.  (The STD clinic tested me for EVERYTHING and it all came back negative, including herpes culture despite the fact that there was no sore on my body to swab.  They swabbed anyway.)

Each of the two urologists said that they could not observe any abnormality upon examination.  This is because they don’t know my body well and this area can appear pink when normal.  Their urinalysis did not show any UTI, but nevertheless the first urologist prescribed, in sequence, Cipro, Floxin, then Flagyl (suspected Trich), all of which I took during month #1.

In month #2, I saw the second urologist and upon my suggestion, he prescribed three days of Diflucan for possible yeast (although he didn’t think I had yeast).  He also thoroughly examined my prostate and found no enlargement or other abnormality.

None of the medications has worked.

Since then, I have tried:  Yogurt, Coconut oil, Miconazole 2%, and I have also tried LEAVING IT ALONE for a week or more.  I have also just yesterday switched my laundry detergent to one with no perfumes or chemicals.  Nothing works.  The redness and irritation continues.  It’s better with erection and in the morning.  It’s worse in the evening.

Please help me I am at the end of my rope.

It sounds to me as though there's nothing wrong with you at all, other than left-over redness from irritation.  I advise you to do nothing medicated and just let the color change take care of itself.  You have done enough to rule out disease, sexual or otherwise.

Best.

Doctor:

Could it be left-over redness even after 3 whole months?

Is it possible that I have some kind of fungus which Diflucan doesn't treat?

Should I try Diflucan again or perhaps some other anti-fungal medication?

Thank you.

Also...it's not just color change.  It hurts constantly.  Feels chafed and irritated.

Thank you.

Read your post- I have been experiencing the same situation for the past 3 years- no one can tell me what the cause is- at times the itching and pinching is unbarable !!! Does yours seem to get worse after ejaculation?  I have been on every anti-biotic and have had every test with no avail- It is making me crazy- the Dr's say not to pay attention to it and it will subside- how do they expact me to not pay attention to it when it is there everyday....  have been on every anti-biotic as well as diflucan... It all started about 2 weeks after receiving  unprotected oral sex which made me belive it was an STD- but it isn't.... there are days it is very painful/ stinging sensation, and days it is vert itchy....  so you are not alone...

My problem is on my sack and the right leg crease. The burning is intense sometimes. I feel like a needle is being jabbed in to it.
This all started after I started taking prescription antacids. No skin problems for 42 years then nine months of chronic burning. Doctors say it's fungus then eczema then nerves. I wish I could pass it on to them maybe they would be more interested in fixing it.
Eczema comes and goes and for me it has always been on my ankles and lasts days not years. This rash is nothing like eczema. Unless your a doctor that claims everything is eczema.

Wily851, you have something different I believe.  It definitely sounds like some kind of fungus.

boyblue, my problem is not affected by ejaculation, nor does it itch.  It's redness and irritation at the tip.  It is noticeably worse at night which I find very strange.  Is that the case with you?  Also, have you tried Levaquin?  I have not but if all else fails I may try it.  It's stronger than the other antibiotics I think.

In 3 days I have my first dermatologist appt. I will report back for sure.

This is so bizarre.   I can't believe they can't diagnose and fix this.

Just came from my dermatologist.  Diagnosis:  Psoriasis.  He says there is no reason for my discomfort.  Redness is within the range of normal, but he gave me Pramosone Pintment 2.5%(hydrocortisone acetate) 2X per day.  He also :  It is NOT a fungus.  I did NOT need all of those antibiotics.  Appearance is normal.  There IS a psychological element – no subjective reason for discomfort.

I don't buy it.  I think when doctors are stumped they blame the patient.  This acute pain at the tip of my penis is NOT all in my head.

Psoriasis is painful didn't the doctor explain what it was.
look it up but don't read to much. They always use extreme cases on the net.

No, he didn't explain that.  He was kind of arrogant and dismissive of me.  Thank you.  I'm going to do some research.
