Red Irritation on Shaft of Penis

For about 9 months now I have experienced a recurring rash, irritated red area on the top shaft of my penis.  Along with that came wavy looking lines or wrinkles and a wrinkling of the head of my penis.  It comes and goes every few weeks and sometimes there is some itching and irritation when it is flared up, then it will dry up, sometimes flaking skin and the irritation and redness will go away, but the wavy lines and wrinkling of the skin stays.  The irritation is exacerbated by masterbation and I can feel the dryness.  The irritated spot also appears swollen a little when really flared.  I have included pictures which can be viewed as a slide show at http://photos.yahoo.com/nakedecho .  My last sexual encounter was 9 months ago so I thought I may have contracted something.  I was tested about 1 month ago for AIDS/and all other STDS they can test for and all came back negative.  I showed the same doctor this when I went to get tested but it was during the time when it wasn't flared up and she could not tell me anything.  It is hard to make an appointment with a dermotologist in advanced b/c I cannot predict when it will flare up.  Could this be some kind of male yeast infection?  I am bad about eating a lot of sugar, and I was experiencing awfully serious abdominal pain a few months ago which I had to get a cat scan for to make sure everything was ok.  All checked out ok and the Dr. assumed I had a prostate infection and prescribed me antibiotics.  The pain eventually went away for good(it normally came every 2 months and caused excruciating pain).  I also had two gum surgeries (grafts) for receding graphs within the past 2 months and had more antibiotics with each surgery.  Can you tell what this is by looking at the pictures?  If this is some kind of yeast infection is there any way I can treat it with over the counter medicines?, Natural remedies, or could you recommend a prescription I could ask my Dr. about. I purchased some jock-itch anti fungal cream and have been using that, but it is not helping.  It is usually not a very bothersome itch, just mainly burning, irriation, redness, and wrinkling, drying and flaking of skin.  There is no discharge or any other symptoms.  It has really changed the appearance of my penis, which I am really concerned about, I just want to get things looking back to normal so I can have a normal sex life.  Please Help!  Thanks for your time!

You could have contracted herpes (if so, then take my condolences). See details here:

Are you sure you were tested for herpes? In your case you have to do Western blot blood test. In Canada it is $175 Canadian (about $150 US), while all other STD tests are free (including AIDS and HPV).

i don'ot have irritation, or itching or anything...

but just latelty i noticed a couple of red lines that when my penis is not erect, look like wrinkles.

i have had sex with 7 girls in my life, and 5 out of the 7 were virgins.  I have used a condom on all of them, but some of them i haven't..

its been 2 years since i have had sex with the girl that wasn't a virgin *we were not dating* and i have NEVER had any problems, with pain, irritation, any symptoms of STDS.

but with my girlfriend now *she was a virgin* i all of a sudden got the little bumps a few days ago, and i haven't seen her in over a week, what do you think the cause of this could be?

About 2 months ago I notice a red bump on the bottom side of my penis, and since I am only 16, I thought it may be STD, but I don't have any pain or drainage. It's just there, well 2 weeks ago I took a knife a tried cutting it off, not knowing any better. It faded, and a few days ago it came back.   I show it to my parents and my mom said it looks like a mole that's in it's first stage. Please help! I can't deal with this. Just having it there is driving me crazy. Like the Doctor said, my parents said. leave it alone and it may go away. Please help! What could it be, dirty hands when I go to the bathroom?

Hello Buddie23-

My symptoms and story are almost identical to your own.  I thought for sure I had HSV-2, but all tests for STD's(both mine, and my partner's) came up negative.

Have you had any concrete diagnosis/successful treatment?

One of the more interesting slideshows I've seen.......

This isn't yeast--among other things, yeast infections don't come and go.  It looks like irritation, which is why masturbation aggravates it.  I would suggest applying 1% hydrocortisone, available over-the-counter, when the rash appears, along with a moisture lotion.  No need to put your sex life on hold for this.  You've done your due diligence.

If you need more confirmation, show the pictures to a skin doctor, even if the rash isn't there when you go.

Take care.
