Red Itchy Bumps

I have been experiencing these awful red itchy bumps on my skin (similar to mosquito bites). They start off small and then within a few minutes or hours (with out scratching) the become huge bumps. It all started on Oct. 16 2008, my finger was swollen (right hand) and they were on both arms near my elbows. The problem that I am having is they get really really big, itch horribly, stay about a 1 week or 1 1/2 weeks, disappear and leave bruises. The next breakouts were as follows: Jan 12, 2009, Feb. 13, 2009, Feb. 20, 2009, and Feb. 25, 2009.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS MIGHT BE!!!! I'ts becoming truly annoying. Thanks!
