Red Marks on Nose.

by saint777, Jun 16, 2009 09:06PM
I have some marks on my nose that appeared a little over a year ago, after a cold.  At the time I thought I rubbed my nose too much, and it would go away.  After it didn't, I tried putting moisturizer on it for a couple weeks, nothing.  Tried using First Aid Antibotic (antibiotic) ointment for a couple weeks, nothing.  Tried hydrocortisone for a couple weeks, nothing.  I do rub my nose too much.  I've tried not touching it at all for as long as possible, trying that currently again right now.  Still doesn't seem to be helping.  Over a year. Theres marks on the nostril and where the cheek meets the nose...i circled it, heh.   I have some pictures:

Dunno how long those pics will stay up.  If you have any thoughts, as I can't afford a dermatologist right now. =/

Thanks.

Hello,

The lesions that you have described sounds like a scar with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment.Apply hydroquinone cream on these scars and it should go away in a few days to months. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.

If the symptoms persist then pls get solar lentigo and rosacea ruled out.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
