Red Marks on face that don't itch

about a year or so ago I started noticing red blotches on  both sides of my face near my ears. The marks are not raised and do not itch at all. About 6-8 months ago the blotches seemed to be spreading down towards my jawline and they are now on my forehead right below the hairline. Some days the marks seem to fade and then a few days later they are really red again.  I went to one doctor that litterally guessed and said it may be roseaca and gave me a perscription for metro gel. (which was really expensive since I do not have insurance) When I went to the doc the marks weren't really that noticable (at the beginning about a year ago) I took the medicine for 4-6 weeks I am guessing but I didn't notice substantial results because I was used to the marks fading and then coming back...so I still don't know if it is roseaca. They do not look like pimples at all. They are not on my cheeks (yet) They do not itch. When I feel the area where the marks are it kinda feels scaly but I just started noticing this system about 6 months ago. I workout and sweat a lot and I wear a baseball hat to keep my hair out of my face. Could this be from the sweat running down the sides of my face? I don't want to go back to the derm and shell out even more money for the visit plus more meds on just another guess. I have looked up pics on roseaca on the net and what I have does not look like roseaca. It sorta looks like eczema but it has never itched...Can anyone help or offer ideas??

Thank you for the comment about the alcohol/red wine but I don't drink. Never have...but food allergy is interesting? I don't know that I have been doing anything different for the past year or so...when I first saw the blotches. I'll look for pics of broken capillaries but they look like small rasberries...if that makes any sense. I think I did look up lupus at one time but I am going to look again. I think I am going write down everything I eat/take and see if it could be an allergy. Thank you for that suggestion. I do take excederin quite often and Claridon D every day...but have been doing so for over 5 years..... Thank you for the information. My doctor certainly didn't give any suggestions...just looked quickly at my face and asked if it itched and then said it may be roseaca.

Oh, and I suppose it might be lupus, but I hope not.

Does it look like swollen capillaries?  Does it get worse after drinking alcohol?  Maybe just red wine?  Some rosacea is more little swollen capillaries instead of bumps.

I find a lot of skin conditions are related to food and digestion, so you might try eliminating the usual food allergy culprits one at a time.
