Red Patches all over Back

by JS, Dec 16, 1999 12:00AM
My Girlfriend gets penny and nickel size red patches all over her back. Heat and sweating seem to bring it on. The Doctor gave her Lotrisone cream that seems to make it go away in a few days. But he never gave it a name. What could this be ? They start off as red or rose color and then turn a brown. They cover and spot her whole back and sometime her shoulders. They don't itch or anything. The cream makes them fade.

JS:

Hard to be sure, but it may be tinea versicolor, a mild and noncontagious fungus young people get on their chest or back.  There are better treatments than Lotrisone.  Have her see a dermatologist.  One visit should clarify diagnosis and treatment.

Best.
