Red Spots

by PossiblePoz, Jul 19, 2007 12:00AM
Hello Doc,

I'm having some problems and I don't understand what's going on. I've been getting red pimple like spots (sometimes just a redness) around and on my lips. They always go away in a day or two but this is very strange because I've never had this happen to me. I had a herpes test a few days ago which came back negative for HSV-1 and HSV-2 but I could have had an exposure after that. But I don't know if this is herpes because they don't look like cold sores and they disappear within a day or two.

I don't know what to make of this. Is it possible it can be from the heat? I live in New York City. Do you know what this could be?

Thank You.

I don't think it's herpes.  A heat rash sounds much more likely.  As you obviously know, herpes doesn't come and go a couple of days.  If you're rubbing or closely examining yourself to see what's going on, please stop, since that can make spots persist and look more noticeable.  I think you should stop worrying about herpes and ignore these.  If you can't see a dermatologist in person.

Best.
