Red bump

by spot2, Apr 27, 2007 12:00AM
About a week and a half ago I noticed a raised red bump on my wrist. Its small, about 1.5mm and has a red dot with pink underneath. I don't remember noticing it earlier but I might have just not noticed it.  but I became concerned about it, probably needlessly and would appreciate your opinion. I went to a dermatologist for a skin check about 2 weeks ago, but I didn't point it out to him at the time and I don't know if he noticed it. Is this anything to be concerned about. I'm somewhat worried about the possibility of nodular melanoma.  I've put the link to a picture below. Thanks.

Doesn't look like much to me.  If it came on that quickly (since your visit), it's probably a blocked pore.  I'd leave it alone.  If it doesn't go away or enlarges, call your doctor, just fro peace of mind.  But nodular melanoma seems extremely unlikely.

Take care.

My stepmother, who is a nurse, told me it was just sort of a small blood blister caused by a blood vessle poking out. She told me the name of it, although I forget and said she got the same things frequently. She popped it with a needle. Blood immediately came out and and the thing deflated immediately becoming almost flat and decreasing to about half of its previous size. A couple of days later, I picked off the scab and there seemed to be nothing underneath. Now the scab has grown back, but it hasn't increased in size. Anything left to worry about? I assume that a melanoma would not deflate when stuck with a needle?
