Red dots on head of penis??.. What are the possibilities?

So my boyfriend has been getting these red dots/bums on the head of his penis, but they aren't painful or itchy he says that its not irritated in the least. He says they disappear then reappear or show up on another side of his penis. He went to the doctor today and wont  be getting results for about a week, the doctor says it looks like herpes I did some research on it and none of the sypmtoms match... we have had sex before he got these dots/bumps.
I haven't gotten any redness or irritation, itchyness, nothing so it couldn't be herpes could it other wise I would have it too?? He also has materbated since he went back to New York to see family for the holidays.
Could someone please help me... I am getting nervous.

Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Herpes presents as painful itchy blisters and is highly contagious.

Apply warm compresses, Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You  can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Folliculitis I read up on this... but I didnt quiet understand exactly what it is... is it like a pimple? Hmm and about HPV I have gotten my HPV shots so I am sure it cant be genital warts. And thank you very much for your help I will be sure to pass this on to my boyfriend.
