Red itchy bumps

by Rhubarb23, Jun 16, 2001 12:00AM
I have a recurring problem: Tiny bumps on my thumbs and first two fingers of each hand.  The itch like crazy and then from scratching them, they weep; the affected skin then becomes quite reddened and sore until it finally heals.  This has come and gone over the past 5 years or so. Often, I don't even think about them for weeks at a time - other times, they drive me crazy with the itching. I'm a 44 yr. old woman - in great health (otherwise!).

Sounds like dyshidrotic eczema, a nonallergic form of this condition.  No cause known, nor any prevention.  For the periods when it drives you crazy, try applying hydrocortisone and/or Saran lotion (OTC for itch.)  Or ask a doctor to recommend a prescription-strength steroid.

Best.

I have had for almost 4 mos. what appears to be measle like or spider bites all over my body.  Mainly on my right side.  But about 30% as much on the left.

They are more prominent at night time & I am so miserable.

I use Cortizone 10, Benadril, Epson Salt baths.  Everything I do seems to be about an hour of relief.

Please help me!!

I claw myself at night until I bleed.

I noticed that I might have to wait up to 10 days for a responce.  Please respond asap as I can't take much more.

Sincerely.

Susan
