Red marks on face

by Adit, Jul 01, 2003 12:00AM

I have been on accutane for about 5 months, and I am almost done
with the course. The acne is almost completely gone, but I have red skin discolorations where skin has flaked off. These marks have been there for about 4 months now. I wanted to know if accutane is preventing these marks to fade away. If it is, will the marks start to fade away once I am off of accutane? If accutane is not causing these red marks to fade away, can some other treatment help?

Thank You.

Those marks are what's left of the acne.  Now that Accutane has cleared up the acne, the marks will fade on their own.  It will probably take 3-4 months more.  No treatment is needed.

Enjoy your new, clear skin.

Hi there

Well, I had mild ache but most of the spots left red scars (marks) on my face. None of the treatment the doc gave me seemed to work so I decided to buy my own products. I bought a spot pen (from superdrug - £1.49 ), some Savlon - Skin Healing Scream, and also some Sudacrem. Within 4 weeks my face has cleared up really well and the red marks have really faded which is brill!! ... I also reccommend for you all to try Pure Tea Tree oil (a dab of the effected area) , Witch Gel (on the affected area only)  and TCP Liquid also works but make sure you water it down a little first. All these treatments really do work and they are really cheap to buy over the counter too.

Hope this helps, it did for me! :-)
