If I may add, this condition is shared between my younger and older brothers, my older sister, and my mother. I will let them know the information I've learned, and show them the results I have gotten from the home remedy, and hopefully they too will show improvements. All from you pointing me in the right direction, you have certainly helped me, and possibly my whole family with this embarrassing condition. Once again, thank you so much. Your help is much appreciated :)
So as I was researching the pityriasis rosea and I noticed that most of the symptoms were a match for what I had, but some things didn't seem right. While reading in a forum about the pityriasis rosea, I noticed something in the "similar categories" sidebar called tinea versicolor. As I was looking at all of the symptoms , causes, and photos, I decided that it was more of a match for the condition I had than the pityriasis rosea I originally thought it was. Every symptom, cause, picture, and description fit perfectly for what I had. I looked up some home remedies, found that selsun blue dandruff shampoo can treat it, and within 5 days the discoloration is almost gone. I know you said to keep you posted, so I was just letting you know that I have found out what my condition was, and it is in the process of being treated. I wouldn't have found out any of the information I did if it wasn't for your help to lead me on the right trail. Thank you so much!
I have looked around, seen some pictures, read some info on it, and I think this is EXACTLY what I have. Most of the symptoms are a perfect fit. Thank you very much. Now that I know it's not harmful it's a huge relief off of my chest. I'm going to schedule a physical and find out for sure. Thanks again.
These patches can be due to pityriasis rosea. Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and itching. Topical and oral steroids are needed. Water, sweat, and soap may cause irritation and should be avoided in the disease. Topical zinc oxide and calamine lotion are useful for pruritus.
Initially, a primary plaque, called a herald patch, is seen. Then it is followed by a distinctive, generalized rash 1-2 weeks later. The rash lasts approximately 2-6 weeks and is found in a Christmas tree pattern over the trunk and abdomen.
I suggest you to get it examined from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
