Red rash on my penis

Red rash on my penis

Dear doctor, I've got a strange problem with skin on head of my penis.

But first: I am 22, virgin, non-smoker, non-drinker, do a lot of active spots. Masturbate sometimes (usually use my saliva as lubricant).

About a 1.5 years ago I've got strange mild red rash on a penis (just as I have now) and immediately go to doctor. Doctor was surprised that I am a virgin and tested me for syphilis (negative). Rash is mild, not itchy and red color fades away about 50% after washing penis with water. Doctor said that almost likely that it is a fungus, and prescribed me a Clotrimazole cream - didn't help, then Gentamycin+Betamethasone+Clotrimazole cream (sorry, I am from Russia and I am trying to use world standard names for meds instead of our local names) - it helped a little. Then, suddenly, after I stopped using any cream rash was gone. I've happily lived for almost a year, but it come back about a month ago. I suppose it is an allergy and use Dimetindene gel - when I apply it red color of rash is almost gone. But after a few hours (recently longer) - it is back again. I have a hope (fingers crossed) that is very-very slow shrinking, but still not sure. I even stopped masturbating but seems no change.

Any advice would be appreciated.

And I forgot to mention, that I used  a Pix liquida+Sapo viride+Naphthalan petroleum+Sulfur cream after Clotrimazole, because thought that it was scabies and after i used It for about a two weeks skin on penis become a liitle wrinkled and bumpy - so as you can see on photos.

hello Cunick!!   I had the same redness as you, but before I go any further I'd like to ask you two questions: Where exactly is the redness or  irritation located (shaft, foreskin or glans (glands))? And, Are you circumsiced or not. I'llm give you this suggestion, stop all the creams they do not work and they are gonna make your skin very thin.   Take care    Ra

Hello,
This wrinkling of skin can be due to the dermatitis caused due to the creams. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get a biopsy skin done so as to confirm the diagnosis. Also the possibility of dermatitis and atopic dermatitis needs to be ruled out which can occur due to allergies.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Big thanks for your advice, now I am making some common blood tests (including STD-s - just to be completely sure) before going any further.

2  Ra1234: I am circumsized(since 5 years old due to phimosis), irritation is a located mostly on my glans (glands). But a very small irritation spot is also on a shaft. I've got some photos I can pm them to you if you are interested.

2 Bhupinder Kaur, MD: Thanks for your advice, I stopped using any creams for now. Also a must mention, that recently I'be got small bubbles on my hands - they were a bit itchy and looked like very-very small bubbles filled with transparent fluid. They very only between fingers and on laps. They very small and some of them have a black dot. Now they mostly gone (I suppose that it was dyshidrosis - photos of it looked exactly like it, and we have a anomally hot summer, so I am always a bit sweaty)

Hello,
The small bumps on your hands are definitely suggestive of pompholyx or dyshidrotic eczema. The exact cause is not known and excessive sweating can be one of the reasons. But some triggers like allergic reaction to soaps, detergents, foods, latex, nickel etc may trigger the symptoms. Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.

Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.

hello Cunick!  The reason of my redness (irritation) was called recurrent balanophostitis) and it wasn't caused for any fungus or bacteria it was probably an alergic (allergic) reaction to something. Well the doctor told me that the only solution would be to circumsice my penis and after so many visits to different doctors and also taking all kind of medication and putting antifungals creams that did not work I decided to go ahead with the circumsicion and I'm glad I did it because the irritation is not longer in my penis, My glans (glands) and shaft skin look the normal color as before the irritation started more than a year ago. Well. since you are already circumsiced I suggest you to make an appointment with an urologyst. You know that one doctor recommended me to soak my penis in a glass of water with two tablespoons of white vinegar two times a day( morning and night) he said this cures fungus. Hope it works for you. Thanks. Take care. Sincerely Ra
