Red spots on head of penis and under foreskin

by HeyImEphraim, Oct 21, 2009 11:14PM
I am a Male below the age of 25, in a monogamous relationship of 6 months. Neither me, nor my partner have any history of STD's. We have been having sex for roughly 2 months now, both with and without condoms and we haven't had any problems. As we are both each others first sexual partner, we're still finding our way, trying new things and whatnot and with the house to ourselves last weekend we decided to have rougher than normal sex, and to be honest enjoyed it a lot. We repeated the act twice more throughout the night (although multiple rounds per night is not really uncommon for us). Note: We did use condoms throughout the entire night. The next day, I noticed small reddish spots on the head of my penis and under my foreskin, that simply looked like any rash or irritation you'd get anywhere else on your skin and simply dismissed it as something minor that would go away, as I wasn't expecting to be seeing her for a week. It eventuated that I ended up seeing her a few days later and although the inflammation of the 'irritation' had subsided by about half, it was still there, and it was still a little sore. We ended up having sex a couple of times that night (although the decision was made that we would go slowly, just to avoid irritating it further) with the 'irritation' being relatively no hindrance pain-wise, however in the shower the morning after I noticed the the inflammation was much worse than it even originally was.

My questions is;
Is this, as I assume it to be, simply a little friction burn, or something related and not something more severe?

Thanks in advance.

To: HeyImEphraim,
Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but this swelling can be due to friction rub or chaffing.
Chafing occurs when the skin becomes irritated by the friction caused by rubbing – either against other skin or against a foreign material. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
