I took a small mirror and looked at it, because I was worried, and it was a redish pimple on the lower pubicPubic lice mound, just above the opening of the pubic lips. I do not understand why this happened seeing as I do not even shave down there. Could this be a hygiene issue? Is there any advise that can be given or should I just wait for it to go away?
HI,
This is a condition called folliculitis.Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin.Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing, blockage of the follicle, shaving.
In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).
It presents as a pimples or pustules located around a hair follicle and associated with itching of the surrounding skin.
Topical antiseptic treatment is adequate for most cases or you could apply a topical antibiotic such as mupirocin ointment.
