Redness on forehead and around nose.

Good afternoon,

For about 8 months; I've been experiencing red and often flaky skin on my forehead and around the sides of my nose. The skin in these areas is a little stiffer than the surrounding unaffected parts.

I haven't tried any treatments yet; but try to remove the scaly parts in the shower every day with a lufa.

I also have reoccurring dandruff that may be linked to the problem. Is there any way I can cure this ailment?

it looks like seb derm , i have it on my forehead and nose too. welcome to hell. theres no cure and little relief. I dont have the raised bumps like yours but mine is red , yellow, flaky and a different skin texture than the surrounding areas. best I have found is washing with ZNP bar every day or two and using prescription elidel cream. these will help a little but basically were screwed

Hello,
Seborrheic dermatitis is one possibility for such symptoms. The other possibility is of eczema skin.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Treatment usually involves use of antifungal, anti inflammatory and sebo suppressive or Keratolytic ingredients. Dermatologist also recommends the use of photodynamic therapy which involves the usage of UV- A, UV- B laser and red or blue LED light to inhibit the growth of the yeast and reduces the inflammation.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
