Redness on scrotum, itching around base of penis

Back in November I was having sex with this girl from my job, the first time was with a condom and after we had finished i noticed a thick white discharge from her vagina.  She told me that she just "cums really thick" when shes turned on.  We had sex another time without a condom (my mistake), then I started hearing rumors about her from work that she had herpes.  When i confronted her about it she had said that she had gotten a rash and her doctor told her it was a "herpaic reaction" but was negative for simplex 2.

Being concerned about all of this I got an STD test and it came back with positive for Chlamydia.  My doctor perscribed me medication and it went away, however i still have this itching around the base of my penis and my scrotum is red and slightly irritated even after the second STD test came back clear.  This redness has been there since the beginning of the whole ordeal but i hadnt put much thought into it since i had read that it was a symptom of chlamydia, however since it was still there after the second test came back clear i was a bit concerned

I had asked if the STD test had included checking for herpes, but I was told that they cant tell the difference between simplex 1 & 2 in a blood test, and they just need to culture test any outbreaks, and since i havent had any of the typical signs of herpes theres nothing for him to test.  I explained to my doctor what was happening and he told me it might just be jock itch.  Ive used various over the counter jock itch remedies to no avail, i even tried using monistat on my scrotum thinking i might have gotten a yeast infection from the white discharge that came out of her.

I dont have health insurance at the moment so im trying to avoid another $100 visit just to be told to try some other over the counter remedy, but im kinda lost at the moment

Any help is appreciated

Herpes doesn't cause thick white discharges.  Persistent redness of the scrotum doesn't suggest herpes either.  More than likely, the scrotum is red because of irritation, and the less you do for it, the better you are.  Try some over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone twice a day for 3 days, but otherwise just use vaseline.

There are blood tests that tell the difference between herpes 1 and 2, but if your doctor doesn't think what you have sounds or looks like herpes--and this appears to be right--then you won't need this test.

If the scrotum redness continues to bother you, you will need to see a doctor.

Best.

Thank you for the input, I actually picked up a tube of cortisone after reading through the forum alot, and it seems to be making more of a difference than anything else has.

The thick white discharge I was referring to would of been this girls yeast infection that I thought i might of been infected with.  The only reason I had thought it was herpes is from some research ive been reading that typical herpes symptoms are not blisters but itrritation and itching.  Ive just been paranoid because of the rumors i had heard about her, but im glad i have a second opinion

thank you so much for your help, I'll be sure to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt persist
