Redness

by Tactile, Apr 19, 2009 04:37PM
Hi,

My cheeks go rather red when I get hot, embarrassed, stressed, and do exercise. They continue to stay red for a while afterwards also. I don't seem to dispersing heat around my body, it just seems to be going to my face!! Is there anything I could do to prevent/stop/help this redness?

Thanks very much,
Elliot

Hi Elliot,

Blushing is a normal body response that may occur when you are embarrassed, angry, excited, or experiencing some other strong emotion. This usually resolves on its own.  Flushing of the face, on the other hand, may also be associated with certain medical conditions. Try to avoid the things that cause your blushing such as avoiding hot drinks, spicy food, extremes of temperature, and bright sunlight. If it persists, have this evaluated further to rule out medical conditions such as rosacea or carcinoid syndrome.

Take care and keep us posted.
