Retin A and Glycolic Application (40%)

Retin A and Glycolic Application (40%)

I am 38 years old with fair skin. I get a mild glycolic application 1x a month - it is a Murad brand and is 40% strength.  My skin is at it's best when I do these treatments.  I don't have any adverse effects with these applications.

I have retin A (.05) and started using that and stopped the glycolic applications and I have to say, my face doesn't look as good!  And I have more breakouts.

I WANT to have the Retin A work b/c all the great wrinkle benefits (which is why I am on it... not for acne though now it is worse but I think some is stress related).  Anyway, can I do RETIN A and glycolic applications?
Maybe retin A for a week then stop for 3 weeks b/f the glycolic or should I cut the Retin A out all together?

Thanks!
M

My mom has used Retin A for almost 10 years and she swears by it.  Her facial skin looks great at 56.  It will take several weeks for the Retin A to take hold in a noticeable difference, unlike glycolic applications which take 2-3 treatments.  It isn't recommended to continue doing peels especially at 40% concentration while on Retin A (or get facial waxings for that matter).  Retin A can make skin terribly sensitive.  Only once did my mom get a peel done, and she was peeling for four days (not pretty).
